Abstract Submission

The Future of Democracy Prize is a national essay and artwork contest for emerging voices presented by Democracy Defenders Fund (DDF).

Contest submissions will answer the question: What will it take for U.S. democracy to not only survive but thrive through the end of this decade and beyond?

This is an open-ended question, and we’re not looking for a specific answer. In your submission, you can consider the roles that advocates, activists, and everyday citizens can play in defending and advancing democracy in an age of disinformation, polarization, and rising authoritarianism across the globe. You may also draw on lessons from democratic struggles in other countries to inform your vision for a more resilient and inclusive U.S. democracy.

The contest is open to essays as well as multimedia artwork (paintings, drawings, digital graphics, videos under 5 minutes, etc.). At this stage, we are accepting abstracts only.

Ten finalists will be selected. Winners will receive a $1,000 cash prize and have their submissions memorialized in an anthology published by DDF.
