Fighting Corruption

Corruption fuels authoritarianism, transforming public institutions into tools for personal gain and consolidating power in the hands of a privileged few.

 

We go on offense working to expose and fight against corruption. Through FOIA requests and public records investigations, we shine a light on  abuses of power. With systemic reforms and litigation, we challenge conflicts of interest and unethical practices to achieve a more transparent government.

  • Our litigation against DOGE and Elon Musk contributed to his departure and the closure of the department, such as our securing an injunction against OPM’s disclosure of personal data to DOGE and a Preliminary Injunction and class certification in the case to remedy the shutdown of USAID. 

  • We have worked tirelessly to force the release of the Trump-Epstein files, including filing numerous FOIAs and lawsuits against the DOJ. 

  • Our Policy, Oversight, and Ethics team’s complaints have shined a light on the Trump administration’s corruption, such as those attempting to block Trump’s acceptance of a Qatari jet and calling for an investigation into Apple’s CEO for a potentially illegal gold gift to President Trump.

  • During the government shutdown, we called on the U.S. Department of Agriculture to release billions of dollars in funding for SNAP benefits.
