DEMOCRACY DEFENDERS FUND FILES FOR RELEASE OF TRUMP-RELATED EPSTEIN RECORDS

WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Democracy Defenders Fund (DDF) submitted a series of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to the federal government seeking records relating to the Department of Justice's investigations of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell that mention President Trump and his Mar-a-Lago residence. The request comes amid growing bipartisan calls for the administration to stop blocking the release of information related to the Epstein investigations.
“President Trump's failure to release the Epstein files has undermined public confidence in the Department's handling of these records and betrayed repeated promises he made to the American people that he would release them,” said Amb. Norm Eisen (ret.), executive chair of Democracy Defenders Fund. “Absent this critical transparency, the public will continue to question the President and DOJ’s motivations–and, consequently, the government’s integrity.”
The House of Representatives is currently deadlocked as a group of Republican and Democratic lawmakers are seeking to force the Trump administration to release all federal files on the Epstein investigations.
“With the Senate rapidly approaching a vote on DOJ official Emil Bove’s nomination to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, it is more important than ever that this information be made public. It could shed light on any involvement by Bove in the DOJ’s decision making holding back the Epstein Files from the public. DDF has advised DOJ that, in anticipation of reasonably foreseeable litigation, the agency should institute an agency-wide preservation hold on documents potentially responsive to this request.” said Eisen.
