Following is a statement by Amb. Norm Eisen (ret.), executive chair of Democracy Defenders Fund, regarding a federal grand jury’s refusal to indict Attorney General Letitia James:

“Once again, the Trump administration’s meritless pursuit of Attorney General Letitia James has apparently collapsed—as it should have. After first a judge and now a grand jury rebuffed this case altogether, it is time for the DOJ to end this vindictive pursuit.

“The Trump administration’s dogged pursuit of political retribution shows a willingness to bowl over every independent check on its power. President Trump is using his immense authority to settle scores and distort our institutions for personal aims. That is not how democracy works, and today, the rule of law won.”
