NORM EISEN: HOUSE OVERSIGHT INQUIRY INTO DEMOCRACY DEFENDERS FUND IS A “POLITICAL ATTACK MASQUERADING AS AN INVESTIGATION”
Statement | June 11, 2026
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The following is a statement from Amb. Norm Eisen (ret.), co-founder and executive chair of Democracy Defenders Fund, in response to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s inquiry into DDF:
“Democracy Defenders Fund has been fighting the assault on our democracy since day one, operating fully within the law as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. When you shine a light on corruption, they try to shut it off.
“We have continually exposed corruption and challenged abuses of power. Our work defending free and fair elections, upholding the rule of law, and combating corruption speaks for itself.
“It's no surprise that Rep. Comer is using his authority to lash out at our organization. This is part of a larger pattern of baseless attacks on organizations like ours intended to silence dissent. We will not back down from intimidation and harassment. We will continue to expose grift, demand accountability, and defend our democracy. And we will fully cooperate with any legitimate oversight request while making clear what this is: a political attack masquerading as an investigation.”
