MERGER OPPOSITION CAMPAIGN CROSSES 4,000 NAMES AHEAD OF WARNER BROTHERS SHAREHOLDER VOTE

Press Release | April 23, 2026

Robert De Niro, Sofia Coppola, Roman Coppola, Holly Hunter join the letter. Press call and scheduled events add pressure ahead of today’s vote

Washington, D.C. — A list of more than 4,000 signees that includes thousands of film and entertainment industry union members, more than 75 Oscar winners and nominees, and a hundred of the most influential actors and directors are making it known: the Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger is not a done deal. The opposition campaign, which quadrupled in size ahead of today’s Warner Bros. shareholder vote, shows that the “growing push to kill WarnerMount is very real.

Puck News reports that action by state attorneys general to stop the anti-consumer deal is more likely each day, particularly after their recent wins against Live Nation-Ticketmaster and Nexstar-Tegna. For those wondering if a run at Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery is next, Puck says the answer is “almost certainly.

Meanwhile, the anti-merger campaign is not taking its foot off the gas. As shareholders ready themselves for the merger approval vote and David Ellison prepares to host an “intimate reception” in D.C. honoring President Trump, the coalition that spearheaded the open letter is ramping up the pressure. Key organizations hosted a press call on Wednesday evening featuring the president of Writers Guild of America West, Michele Mulroney, former FTC commissioner Alvaro Bedoya, and journalist and former CNN chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta. Today, members of the coalition will host a rally outside WBD’s Manhattan headquarters at 9 a.m. ET ahead of the shareholder vote, followed by a protest this evening at 5:30 p.m. ET outside of Paramount’s D.C. reception.
