Democracy Defenders Fund (DDF) today filed a complaint calling on Department of Homeland Security ethics officials to take corrective action to address Secretary Markwayne Mullin's potential violations of federal ethics and financial disclosure laws.

In a letter to DHS Designated Agency Ethics Official Kateland Jackson, DDF raised two concerns. First, Secretary Mullin’s ongoing position as a compensated managing member of Allotment Services LLC may violate the outside earned income limitations that apply to full-time presidential appointees. Second, while serving in the Senate, Secretary Mullin appears to have never filed required transaction reports for his investments in Allotment Services LLC or its holding, Apres Spectrum LLC, potentially violating the Ethics in Government Act.
