Following is a statement by Norm Eisen, co-founder and board member of Democracy Defenders Fund, regarding the Trump administration’s executive order designating Antifa as a domestic terrorist threat.

“The administration’s move to label the idea of antifa as a domestic terrorist threat is just another way to muddy the waters, command the news cycle, and sow chaos and confusion, per usual. It’s deliberate misinformation and appears to give the administration rhetorical license to brand anyone and anything that it doesn’t like as antifa. That makes it overbroad, illegal and unenforcable. This executive order is yet another distraction and abuse of power. It certainly won’t address political violence or make Americans more safe and secure.”
