DDF PRESSES OGE TO EXPAND PUBLIC ACCESS TO FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE REPORTS FOR GREATER GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY
Press Release | October 27, 2025
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Democracy Defenders Fund (DDF) submitted a comment to the U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) on the renewal of the OGE Form 201, which is used by members of the public to access financial disclosure reports of high-level officials.
DDF urged OGE to amend the form to:
Reduce barriers to access by making the forms more understandable;
Allow requestors to request multiple reports at the same time;
Permit the public to seek reports based on position title and not name; and
Ensure access to the reports for acting officials through OGE’s automated database.
DDF’s comment emphasizes that adoption of these changes is important to increase public transparency and ensure citizens can continue to hold government officials accountable.
